It's raining today. It started out lightly, but has been steadily coming down since I got up at 7:30 this morning. It feels really good to know that I don't have to go out today--I had thought to go to the market and get some apples, but I don't need them. The only thing that might prompt me to put on the raincoat and pull out le parapluie (umbrella) is going down to the corner to get the paper.
It's a little past 1:00 in the afternoon here, the market is over, and most of the stores, if I wanted to go browsing, are closed for lunch. So, I have been at home, with my chores all done, writing and reading and having coffee.
Now for the silliness...I was telling a friend this morning that I have noticed an abundance of ads for ear wax removal--apparently it is plaguing the French.... Rincage seems to be the preferred cure. I hadn't noticed this to be a big problem in the US, but I have to confess that I don't watch much TV, and therefore am out of touch with the latest afflictions.
Also, over in Bordeaux sometime last week, some young men temporarily liberated Serge, the llama, from his captivity in the circus and took him nightclubbing. They returned him to the circus none the worse for the escapade. Now he's an Internet sensation and certain Bordeaux residents are proposing that he become the new city mascot.
Oh yes, I've also been fiddling around with my camera. I learned that the speed isn't quite fast enough to capture raindrops falling. I made a little video... It took only 10 minutes to load it.
I don't know how to make it stand still.....or produce the sound. And I worked so hard on the narration. |
